Happy Clappy Crochet

Celebrating Crochet with a Positive Spin

Hey all! So far I just have one completed entry for the April drawing. If you are interested in winning a prize this month, check out this post for the rules AND this post in order to sign up!

I’ve been crocheting when I can as well. While I can’t show actual WIP pictures because they are for future patterns, I can share some close-up pictures so you can see what is being worked on.

001 Here is a close up of a pattern I am working on for Cascade Yarns. It’s about 2/3 done, and I’m hoping to have it ready for blocking by the end of the month.

002 (2) Thanks to Jenny King, I learned how to stitch the Solomon’s Knot, also known as the Love Knot. This is for an accessory I am hoping to finish so I can wear it at Stitches Midwest in August.

003 I had to get really close in for the detail on this one, and I have to say, it doesn’t do it justice. This is a lace weight yarn from Mountain Colors, and while lace can take a while to stitch (There are only 9 rows rows in this picture), I love how it looks when it is finished.

004 This item is actually all stitched! However, I still have some ends to weave in, and a pattern to write up in order for it to be completed.

So that is a quick peek into my busy project bags.  What are you working on?

And the Blog Tour Winner is…

As part of the Crochetville Blog Tour, I did two things to celebrate being part of the tour. I offered my first indie pattern to you for free with a special coupon code, and I’m pleased to report that 94 of you took advantage of that special sale! Thank you!  The other thing I did was host a comment contest. Anyone who commented on any of my blog posts from March 13, 2015 to March 31, 2015 was entered to win three skeins of Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash yarn in the colors of their choosing.  I had 41 people make comments over that time period! Using the random number generator available at Random.org, I entered my parameters and the lucky random number was #10.

I had created an Excel list with names of people who commented, in order from the first comment made on March 13, 2015, to the most recent comment received last night. I checked my list for who was #10 and I am please to announce the winner!

The winner of three skeins of Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash is…. MAUREEN!

I have already sent her an email letting her know how to get her yarn.  Congrats, Maureen!

Just an FYI – I really giving away stuff, and you have three more chances to win something by participating in the WIP CAL/KAL. Check out earlier posts for more information.

WIP CAL/KAL – Day One!

WIP_Roundup_2+Image-largeWelcome to Day One of the WIP CAL/KAL! I’m glad you are here and I look forward to all the stitching goodness we will finish over the next three months.

As a reminder, here is how you can participate.  Comment on this blog with your name and either a link to your Ravelry project page OR a note that you will be emailing the project information to me at decchilddesigns@gmail.com. Project information should include the following:

  • Project name
  • Pattern name (if applicable)
  • yarn used
  • hook / needle size
  • (if possible) a current picture of the WIP

At the start of each month, I will post a blog (like this one) to remind how to participate and to be a starting point for sign-ups. In order to be eligible for the prize drawing, you must have a comment on this blog with your starting info as well as when you post your finished item.  Once a week, probably on Sundays, I will have a progress blog posted.  If you have completed your WIP, you need to do one of the following:

  • Comment under the progress blog with your name and the Ravelry link to the completed item OR
  • email me at the gmail address listed earlier with your name, completion date for your project, and a picture of the finished item.

Once I have received both the starting comment (on this blog) and the completion comment (on a future blog), you will be added to the list for that month’s drawing.

NOTE: If you are looking to earn extra entries by making hats for Halos of Hope, you need to comment on this blog with your name and the statement that you will be crocheting and/or knitting a hat / hats, then when you complete your hat(s), send an email to the gmail address with your name and a picture of each finished hat. I will email you back with an address of where to send the hats, and will add you in for that month’s drawing.

So, all this talk of a drawing and what will be the prize?  For April, the winner will receive a copy of Molly Makes Crochet, published by Interweave Press.

Finally, will I be stitching along with all of you? Oh YES! If you remember from a previous post, I have way too many WIPs at the moment, so I look forward to using the next three months to finish what I can. Now, some of those WIPs may become future patterns, so I can’t spill the beans too much, but I’ll share what I can over the next 91 days.

Okay – On your marks, get set – STITCH!!!
